Rodney Wong

Rodney Wong is a stalwart of the New Zealand food industry, with over twenty five years experience across the private and public sectors. With an initial background in production technology, he was CEO of Pacific Brands Foods for over 10 years – and more recently held senior roles with Noske Kaeser NZ Ltd, Conzept Engineering Solutions Ltd; WMC Technology; Lindsay International and Lowe Products Ltd.
He is a former Chair of Crop and Food Research, and led the merger to form Plant & Food Research, before becoming Deputy Chair.
As a Chartered Fellow of the NZ Institute of Directors, Rodney is one of just 10 worldwide senior trainers for 1.2 million Rotary International members, to impart best practice corporate skills and governance to the organisation’s District Governors.
Rodney is a member of the Massey University Business School Advisory Board, and is also a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Food Science and Technology; the Executive Chair of Speirs Nutritional LLP; Director of Scanpower Ltd; the Chair of Manchester House Social Services Inc; and co-founder and Trustee of Wildbase Recovery - New Zealand’s only purpose-built wildlife rehabilitation centre.
Rodney serves as a pro bono mentor for local businesses, organisations, social service agencies and individuals, e.g. Palmerston North Hospital Foundation.
With his expertise in leadership and governance as a Director, Rodney offers clarity on decision-making and strategic intent, with his speciality being chairing boards.
